Organist Christian Gautschi

Biography

Organist Christian Gautschi performs throughout Europe and America, showcasing repertoire from the 14th–21st centuries. Upcoming and past recital venues include such illustrious locations as Tonhalle (Zurich CH), Grossmünster (Zurich CH), Münster (Bern CH), Predigerkirche (Zurich CH), Reformierte Kirche Wattwil (Wattwil CH), St. Matrin's (Olten CH), Reformierte Kirche Oerlikon (Zurich CH), Münster (Schaffhausen CH), St. Jakob (Zurich CH), Kirche auf der Egg/KunstKlangKirche (Zurich CH), St Nicholas Cathedral (Newcastle-upon-Tyne UK), Blenheim Palace (Woodstock UK), Holy Trinity Sloane Square (London UK), Wymondham Abbey (Wymondham UK), All Hallows by the Tower (London UK), St Margaret Lothbury (London UK), Westminster Cathedral (London), Temple Church (London), St Thomas Church Fifth Avenue (New York USA), National City Christian Church (Washington D.C. USA), among others.

Gautschi studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in Zurich, Switzerland for 2008–2013 in the class of Prof. Tobias Willi and Prof. S. J. Bleicher where he got one bachelor's degree (organ) and in 2013 the Master of Arts in Music Education (organ). In June 2015 he graduated from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) with the Master of Arts in Music Performance (organ, class of Prof. A. Jost). He passed his final exam with highest honors. During this time in Zurich he received the Joseph Auchter prize for his efforts to make organ music more popular.

In addition to his travels, performances and teaching, Gautschi is organist of Reformierte Kirche Zurich-Oerlikon, Switzerland, where he works with the famous "Genf" organ (60/IV), the Messias-Choir and the Gospel Choir GO ON. Furthermore he is cantor of the Schola Gregoriana Orlinchovensis (Gregorian Chant).
